I don't really like sprite movies anymore...

...so the review score I've given is pretty decent, if you ask me. To start with, it is sprite animation and unless if you made them yourself, it isn't your own artwork. (although, I'm sure you'd know that) Although, I do agree that sprites can be used to get you into new techniques and ideas of flash so in a way, I do respect sprite animation.

Well, I did like the edited preloader and the menu - it all ran smoothly. In my opinion, though, the beginning of the collaboration was rather lame but towards the end, I did start getting a few giggles. I also liked some of the audio edits you used (maybe you edited them yourself? I don't know) such as the Mika and Bloodhound Gang edits.

The main animation was quite smooth too although when the scenes contained zooming in, I thought it was a bit tacky. Some scenes though, I loved all the small details added to it although, on some of them, I also noticed the small details you missed out on. (the scene with the mine car: the wheels could of been in motion) It also seemed like there were more explosions than cock jokes which makes the animation title a bit misleading.

The graphics were clean, the sound quality was crisp and the animation was smooth. Pretty much what a good submission needs, really. In my opinion, I'd say half of the flash was humorous while the other half may of just been rushed attempts at making jokes. I did like the Jackass Party Boy references, though.

Overall: I'd have to give this a 6/10. Not really my type of thing to watch all the way through, but it wasn't rubbish. People would find it entertaining and I'm sure it could get front page and maybe into a few collections.

Emanhattan responds:

sir. I appreciate your comment. yes the wheels on the dick tales part was kinda my fault. i could make them myself but i couldnt

as for party boy. the sprites where done by myself.

thanks for watching. keep awesome and keep reasonable

Loved it, like all your other pieces.

The preloader gave me a jolly, green smile just with the concerned psycho killer smirk. Loved it. I love all the small details you put into your work, as well. The preloader's play button was interesting. Very Back To The Future.

I love how crazy your stuff turns out to be. So abstract, so psychedelic. Many people won't appreciate this and will try to 'help' you by saying you should go to a psychiatrist and get sorted out. Fuck 'em. Nothings wrong with you, you're just original.

I love your art style. It just reminds me of 60s pop-art, for some reason. Nice work on all the violent bits and pieces, too. Nice choice in 'music', as well.

All I can really do is compliment this piece of work for it is perfect in every way imaginable. I'll see this on the front page in a day or two, most likely. Everyone should love this long time. It's PERFECT.

10/10.

Catoblepas responds:

Thanks man, for you kind and encouraging words.

Needed a quality button for...

...whenever the movie plays slowly. It happened to me because the file size is quite large and my computer is reasonably old. A quality button and a play button would of been great. (I was listening to Manic Street Preachers when the flash started to play and I thought there would be a play button :() The music loop was also quite poor. It left a pretty big gap before it played again. Either choose another track which will loop better or try to get rid of that gap in the track.

For the majority of the animation, it was quite smooth and looked pretty good. Shame it was just a short experiment. It'd be great if you tried to pull off a series (based on Final Fantasy? Your choice. Could be good) with the equipment you used to make this little experiment - fight scenes would look godly.

I think you could become a brilliant 3D artist if this was your first go. I thought for what it was, it was rather nice to look at. Try experimenting with other character and extend the length of the animation and then you'll have something much better. That, a play button, a quality button for slow computers and a better track! :P

The file size was huge so it may be best if you learnt how to compress things to a smaller size in the future too so we don't have to wait for so long for such a small movie and so that none of your submissions exceed the Newgrounds upload limit.

I'll leave you with by saying this was a nice first and shows great potential! Good luck on any future projects you may work on!

6/10.

rolfalmao responds:

Thanks for weighing in! Yeah, the movie slows down on my powerhouse computer so I can imagine how it bad would be on older systems. I dont think the quality button would be much use however since this the movie is basically an imported swf and will not be affected (only in drawn objects are effected). That said, I will do some heavy compression before I dish out the next entry. I had no idea the music loop gap would be different on different systems. The gap is hardly noticeable on my pc. Thanks for pointing that out. If the animation looks good, then this experiment is a success! I'll definitely refine it and work on improving everything you guys said. Thank you very much for your encouragement.

Hahaha, brilliant.

What a smart little flash, this is! My, god! Well, I just loved the idea of this being about a 'cat' who loved to live and play but in the end, ended up just being hooked to the computer and living indoors all the time. This has a rather powerful meaning and that is just simply: Get the fuck off the computer, go outside and enjoy yourself!
Now, we know some people won't do that, but still, it's a nice try and a rather powerful moral. :P

I liked the fact that you were also experimenting with this flash instead of doing your old routines of using the brush tool. It's great to experiment with new and old things. The graphics were nice on the cat and on the computer (nice use of filter effects, by the way!) but I did feel that the children outside should of had a bit more work done to them and even the football. I also felt like the children should of been kittens, as well.

Although, there was a bit that I was picky with with this animation, I still really liked it and I'm going to add it to my favourites. Nice short with a good choice of music, too.

Fora responds:

Woah, what an awesome review, you made my day.
When I begun with this flash I just made a guy, not a kitty or something.
Then I saw house of 1000 cats and that flash really inspired me.
My idea was that I wanted to show how a day of a kitty looks like, but I found that kinda stupid so I ended up with this. I know about the children and I wasn't really happy with the football scene, but it took so long to get a good story and finding that song wasn't easy to, I really wanted that song.
So I got a bit lazy on the end and rushed the children and the football. ( stupid me )
Thanks for the awesome review.

Pretty trippy.

Loved the music choices. System Of A Down, Tool, The Killers, Daft Punk and loads more of my favourites were used. The animation was smooth as fuck and I definitely loved the first animation (with the lines) because I've not seen that concept being used in such a long time. Just loved that.

Some of the graphics were a bit naff but the great thing about frame by frame animation is nobody is going to give a bloody toss because it'll look great in the end, anyways.

I did enjoy this quite a bit. Interesting title, too. Can't wait to see this flash you say that is in production. I really can't. Until then, this'll get a 8/10 from me. Keep up the good work!

InsertFunnyUserName responds:

Thanks.

I'm hoping I won't forget about my other flash because it's going well. :I

Says quite alot for such a basic concept.

Too many people, they'll just see this as an animation to a Linkin Park song which is mainly just subtitles to the lyrics. Nothing more, nothing less. They'll probably even say things like 'I could just get these on some website!' but I felt like there was a bit more to this. It was a rather interesting and clever concept.

Yes, it's just text BUT I felt that it'd of taken some time to of animated it all together. Looked like it did, anyways. Linkin Park isn't really my thing - can't stand their work, to be honest but while watching this flash, I wasn't listening so much but I was reading.

Why'd you pick this song? Does it say something about you and you're wanting to show how you feel? Just wanted to animate something? I don't know why you did use this song but I felt like there was a deep meaning to the song while reading those bits of text. It was really quite interesting. I also loved the little tidbits you added to this animation. Made it more than just text but what made it what I see it as was the text with the song.

I don't like the song but as I said, I felt like there was a deep meaning to the song after watching this and this goes to show you, if you're not reading lyrics to the song, you'll totally miss its meaning.

I added this to my favourites. I thought the animation idea was original and it just made me feel something inside. Not a bloody clue what. Just did. Anyways, here's my review: 10/10.

somethingobvious responds:

At the time i had no idea why i chose this song for some reason it really inspired ideas. I use to listen to it all the time when i was a competition fighter since i stopped fighting ive ignored anything linkin park i guess maybe it was reviving my fighting feelings

Honey roasted gold.

That's what this is. I'm favoriting this and I fived just because it put a smile on my face.

The repeating of the animation and the other edits were all on sync to the mix (which got me smiling, too) which is a brilliant thing because a lot of flashes nowadays aren't synced properly. :(

Also, knowing this is for Clock Day, I thought it was a rather decent submission since most submissions submitted on Clock Day would normally be blammed any other day and is mainly just abused, now but this, even though it was probably nothing Clock Crew related (to the naked eye or to non-members, anyways), it was still an interesting submission.

Not boring, gets your feet tapping and could put a smile on your face. I'm giving this a 10/10. I hope the Clock Day coming up can bring some pretty good flashes like this, too.

nice farewell gift.

It'd be ace if he saw this and was all like: 'wow, the NG public are going to miss me a whole lot. I best not leave, then!' and he doesn't. Yeeeahhh. :(

Anyways, nice flash. I really liked it. Why? Because it's a nice gift to a staff member I'm sure alot of people will miss and because both parts were pretty humorous.

First part:
I thought it was kinda funny how you had Tom Fulp crying and running after Ross (but it sounded alot like Chris Crocker so I thought there was going to be a 'LEAVE YAHOO ALONE!!!!' thing. Oh well) and then a second later, he just stops and has his epic (I never use that word) smile upon his face which I got a few giggles out of. I just love how it looks. Sound quality was very clear which is always good. Catchy music, too.

Second part:
I thought it was pretty nice to have the feeling that Ross would miss working for Newgrounds (with the tear and all). And the boat sketch at the end was just godly. It's a shame he'll be stuck in the middle of the ocean for all eternity. :(

Overall: I thought this was a nice flash but could of had an easter egg somewhere. :0
10/10.

Little-Rena responds:

Thanks for the lengthy review, lol. Yeah, some easter eggs around would have been good, the end to my part was going to be one but I thought it would be nicer to have it in view. I forgot about any extra parts to add to this, so sorry about that, lol.

Boat not going anywhere, uh, don't read too much into that, you'll just hurt your brain :x

Good god.

I just saw the meaning of life right in front of me. Good choice in music, too. I was tapping me feet to it. 10/10.

Sidorio responds:

Me feet?
ME FEET?

It's "my feet", bitch.

Who was told what to do...

...by the man? 8/10.
